Possum Juniors Presents

About the show

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary рpersonality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs Matilda Jr. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl's Matilda Jr is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.

About Possum Juniors

Schedule for Possum Juniors Monthly Workshops from September to May.

What Makes the Possum experience unique? Possum Juniors are an affiliate group here at Possum Point Players. The purpose of our group is to provide opportunities for young performers and theatre artists to develop skills and friendships within the world of theatre. Membership is free and open to any student currently enrolled in grades 5 through 12. The "PJ's" (as we affectionately known) meet on the 3rd Monday of every month from 5:00p - 7:00p.

Each monthly workshop meeting focuses on a different aspect of the theatre world, along with improvisation and games to build confidence, creativity, and comradery. We cover topics such as makeup, lighting, costuming, choreography, playwriting, auditioning, as well as a focus on acting techniques and the fundamentals of theatre.  Our workshops are offered from September through May.

During the summer months we have the opportunity to take the stage with a full-scale production, exploring a variety of genres, from plays to musicals to theatre-for-youth productions! The auditions for these shows are open to anyone in grades 5 through 12 regardless of participation in previous PJ meetings. PJ's also have the opportunity to work with Possum Point Players in a variety of other roles such as assisting backstage, helping with tech needs, ushering, and of course performing in main stage productions. Come join us for our next workshop and/or audition. We hope to see you soon!
