Possum Point Players to hold Auditions for
“Sondheim on Sondheim” on October 17 and 18

Possum Point Players announce upcoming auditions for its 2026 winter musical revue, “Sondheim on Sondheim.” Director John H. Hulse will hold auditions on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 6 PM, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Rd, Georgetown, DE.

Auditioners should select and prepare one of six preselected Sondheim songs to sing (BELOW), based on vocal range.

The show is performed by a cast of eight singer-actors of a variety of ages,16 and up. Cast members should be available for technical rehearsals scheduled for Sunday to Thursday, January 19-22, 2026, and must be available for all performances January 23 through February 1, 2026.

Hailed by the Associated Press as a “revelatory revue full of wonderful moments” and by USA Today as a “funny, affectionate and revealing tribute to musical theater’s greatest living composer and lyricist,” “Sondheim on Sondheim” is an intimate portrait of the famed songwriter in his own words and music. This musical revue features over two-dozen Sondheim tunes, interspersed with beautiful video commentary by the composer himself, who reveals fascinating details about his life and his art. Stephen Sondheim’s final word on his unparalleled body of work has been preserved in this classic revue nominated for both the Tony and Grammy award.

Those needing more information, or who are unable to attend the audition but interested in auditioning or being part of the production crew, may contact John Hulse at 302-245-4147.

ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION:

"Sondheim on Sondheim” is an intimate portrait of the famed songwriter in his own words and music. Through the use of exclusive interviews and new orchestrations of many of his acclaimed works, audiences get an inside look at the personal life and artistic process of the Father of the Modern Musical, Stephen Sondheim. A starry ensemble of the area’s best will perform over two dozen Sondheim tunes, ranging from the beloved to the obscure.

“Sondheim on Sondheim” isn’t a typical show with characters or a story. It’s a musical revue of Sondheim’s existing work. Casting of a variety of ages will primarily be based on voice type and range. There is a large quantity of numbers in the show, so every cast member will be kept very busy.

The original broadway cast consisted of Barbara Cook, Vanessa L. Williams, Leslie Kritzer, Erin Mackey, Tom Wopat, Norm Lewis, Euan Morton, and Matthew Scott. We are not looking for carbon copies of these original performers. Whoever is cast will make each role their own. Each performer will be assigned the same songs in the show as those assigned to the original cast.

Original Cast          Vocal Range                 Some songs they are featured in*

* This is not an exhaustive list of songs each cast member will appear or be featured in.
